Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball program continues to play one of the toughest non-conference schedules to prepare for upcoming USA South challenges. This weekend MC is in Memphis, Tennessee taking on some of the best NCAA Division III volleyball programs in the Rhodes Classic. On the opening day of the tournament, Maryville dropped a pair of matches in five sets to the University of Texas-Tyler and Austin (TX) College.
The Scots fell to Texas Tyler 3-2 by the scores of 23-25, 25-21, 10-25, 25-20, 9-15. Kelsey Handel deposited a team-high 15 kills while finished with a double-double after posting 11 kills and returning 15 digs. Lauren Bonee directed the offense with 24 assists while Mallory Bonee paced the defense with 18 digs.
Maryville fell to 1-10 on the season after falling to Austin (TX) College 3-2 by the scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 20-25, and 10-15. Kristen Sharp posted her second double-double of the day with 13 kills and 21 digs. Kelsey Handel added 13 kills while Madison Coker stroked 10 kills. Kristin Bowlin had 19 assists while Mallory Bonee tallied 28 digs on defense.
The Scots will conclude the tournament on Sunday with match challenges against Easy Texas Baptist University and Hendrix (AR) College.
