Scots tame Lions to remain undefeated in USA South play

The Maryville College volleyball team extended their win streak to five matches as the Scots rolled through Demorest, Georgia defeating Piedmont College and Agnes Scott College on Sunday afternoon.

 

In a 3-1 victory over Piedmont, Kristen Sharp and Kelsey Handel helped MC outscore the Lions 25-27, 28-26, 25-20, 25-16 behind 13 and 12 kills respectively. Lauren Bonee assisted in 25 kills while Kristi Bowlin added 19 assists. Mallory Bonee was stellar on defense with 33 digs while both Sharop and Handel completed double-double efforts with 18 and 11 digs respectively. Bowlin posted a double-double of her own adding a dozen digs to her assists.

 

In the road trip finale, Maryville swept the Scotties of Agnes Scot 3-0 by the scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-13. Kristen Sharp added another double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Kelsey Handel added eight kills. Mallory Bonee tallied a game-high 22 digs.

 

Maryville is now 7-17 and 4-0 in USA South challenges.  The Scots will return home for their next match on October 5th. MC will host Averett and Ferrum for USA South matchups.
