Box Score The Maryville College volleyball team extended their lead in the USA South Southern Division with a 3-0 sweep over rival Piedmont College on Wednesday evening. The Scots moved to 4-0 in league play after defeating the Lions 26-24, 25-16, and 25-17 in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
MC's Kelsey Handle and Mary Kate White paced the Scots at the net with a match-high 13 kills each. Handel was 13 for 20 in her attacks connecting on 60% of her kills. Rachel Kozemko and Sophia del Campo each added six kills. Lauren Bonee directed the offense with 20 assists with Morgan Hall and Kristi Bowlin chipping in eight assists each. Mallory Bonee led the defense with 16 digs with Stephanie Gleason Lauren Bonee, and Kristi Bowlin each adding seven digs. Handel was also strong at the defensive side of the net recording a solo block and three block assists.
Maryville moves to 11-8 on the season and 4-0 in USA South play while Piedmont falls to 10-7 overall and 2-2 in league action.
The Scots will travel to Danville, Virginia on Friday to challenge USA South foes Ferrum College (2-12, 1-5 USAS) and Averett University (10-8, 5-1 USAS).
