Scots fall in 1-0 bout with Methodist after late goal

Box Score
Ben Munger did everything he could on Sunday afternoon, but the Monarchs of Methodist escaped with a 1-0 USA South win in Fayetteville, N.C.
The match remained scoreless until the last 3 minutes of competition.
Munger held onto 11 saves on the day, but Methodist's Seth Harrison slipped a goal past in the 87th minute of action from his midfield position.
The senior's 11 saves rank as his second highest total of the season. The only total higher for Munger came on Sept. 30 against Covenant, when he had 13 saves.
The Monarchs had 13 shots on goal, as the Scots only managed two. Maryville's offense could only muster six shots to a total of 22 by Methodist.
Cody VanKerschaever led the Scots with two shots on the day. David Lethco and Thomas Palmer were the only Maryville players to have shots on goal.
Maryville (7-4-1, 3-2-1 USA South) remains fifth within USA South action, as Methodist (9-2-1, 4-2) holds fourth place.
The Scots return to action on Oct. 15, as they travel to Piedmont. The USA South contest will begin at 5 p.m.
