Maryville turns away the Scots 3-1

The Maryville College volleyball team claimed their final home match of the season with a 3-1 win over USA South Southern Division foe Covenant College by the scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-18, and 25-8.

 

Covenant (18-7, 7-2 USA South) was paced by a match-high 13 kills effort by Ginny Moore. Schuyler Moore and Stephanie Kirkpatrick combined for 29 assists for the Georgian Scots.

 

Maryville (16-8, 9-0 USA South) used a consistent attack by Madison Coker (8 kills, 43% kill percentage) and Kelsey Handel (6 kills, 67% kill percentage) while Julia Vineyard threw down 10 kills and Rachel Kozemko added nine kills. Morgan Hall directed the offense with 20 assists with Kristi Bowlin adding 14 assists. Mallory Bonee paced the defense with 14 digs while Coker, Handel, and Vineyard combined for three solo blocks and six block assists.

 

MC will now take to the road the remainder of the season. Their next stop is Raleigh, North Carolina on October 18th when they challenge USA South foes North Carolina Wesleyan and William Peace University.
