Box Score 1 The Maryville College volleyball team moved to 13-8 on the season and remained undefeated in USA South action with a pair of tough road match victories in Danville, Virginia on Friday evening. The Scots swept Ferrum College 3-0 by the scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-11 before turning away Averett University 3-1 by the scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-27, and 25-21.
Against Ferrum, Maryville was strong at the net connecting on 38% of their team attacks. Kristi Bowlin provided 16 assists while Morgan Hall added 14 additional assists. Their favorite targets were Madison Coker (8 kills), Rachel Kozemko (7 kills), and Julie Vineyard (7 kills). Kaitlyn Flickinger was strong on defense with nine digs with Stephanie Gleason and Kozemko each adding six digs.
The nightcap against Averett featured a 14 kills effort by Mary Kate White with Rachel Kozemko throwing down 11 kills. Kelsey Handel added seven kills and nine block assists. Kori Jacot was also strong on the defensive side of the net with nine block assists. Morgan Hall directed the offense with 25 assists with Kristi Bowlin adding 16 assists. Mallory Bonee and Morgan paced the defense with 14 and 13 digs respectively.
Maryville, now 6-0 in USA South play, will prepare for next weekend to host USA South foes Mary Baldwin and Greensboro. MC will celebrate "Senior Day" before the match at 4:00 with the Pride to honor their five seniors.
