The Maryville College volleyball team opened the season with a pair of wins in Columbus, Ohio while participating in the Capital/Otterbein Invitational Tournament this weekend.
The Scots opened with a strong 3-0 victory over Baldwin Wallace by the scores of 28-26, 25-14, and 25-17.
Mallory Bonee and Kaitlyn Flickinger paced the defense with 14 and 11 digs respectively while Lauren Bonee and Morgan Hall directed the efficient offensive attack with 19 and 16 assists respectively. MC's setters set up Rachel Kozemko with a team-high 13 kills while Kelsey Handel and Mary Kate White collectively added 13 kills while hitting above a .400 kill percentage.
Maryville turned away the tournament host Capital University 3-0 in the nightcap by the scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-10.
Mary Kate White threw down nine kills and Abrianna Jones added seven kills with the duo connecting on over 50% of their attacks. Rachel Kozemko added eight kills and nine digs to help secure the win. Morgan Hall and Lauren Bonee produced 15 and 14 assists while Mallory Bonee finished with a game-high 11 digs.
The Scots (2-0) will travel to Otterbein, Ohio on Saturday to complete tournament action. They will challenge Case Western Reserve in the morning before concluding with Otterbein University.
