Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball team opened up their home invitational with a 3-1 win over Oglethorpe University on Friday afternoon before falling to Lynchburg on MC's Randy Lambert Court.
The Scots (5-4) defeated the Stormy Petrels by the scores of 25-17, 19-25, 29-27, and 25-12.
Kristi Bowlin and Lauren Bonee directed the offense that attacked at a .235 pace with 23 and 22 assists respectively. Their favorite targets at the net were Abrianna Jones (12 kills), Kelsey Handel (11 kills), Rachel Kozemko (10 kills), and Mary Kate White (10 kills). Bowlin posted a double-double with an additional 11 digs while Mallory Bonee paced the defense with a dozen digs. Madison Coker and Julia Vineyard were strong at the defensive net combining for 4 solo blocks and 8 block assists.
During the first day night cap Lynchburg College moved to 4-6 on the season after sweeping the Scots 3-0 by the scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-21.
Rachel Kozemko paced Mc at the net with 11 kills while Morgan Hall dished out 13 assists. Mallory Bonee led the defense with 15 digs.
Maryville (5-5) will challenge Earlham and 4:00 on Saturday and Centre at 8:00 to conclude the home tournament.
