The Maryville College volleyball squad dropped to 8-7 on the season, as the team dropped two matches in Georgia this afternoon. The Scots fell to Birmingham-Southern College, 3-1, before dropping the nightcap at Berry College, 3-0, in two non-conference matchups.
The Scots fell to the Panthers (9-6) by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 17-25 and 25-23. Sophia del Campo led Maryville with a team-high 10 kills in Maryville's first game of the day. She managed three block assists, while accounting for 11.5 Maryville points. Julia Vineyard added seven kills, as Mary Kate White found a total of six against Birmingham-Southern.
Morgan Hall (17) and Lauren Bonee (13) combined for a total of 30 of 34 Maryville College assists. Mallory Bonee added 13 digs, as Kaitlyn Flickinger found 10. Stephanie Gleason added nine total digs.
For Birmingham-Southern, it was all Lynsie Byrd, who had a total of 21 kills in the match, as she connected on 37 percent of her attempts. Katie McCormack added 33 assists for the Panthers.
The Vikings of Berry College (6-9) took the nightcap from Maryville College, 25-23, 25-15, 25-23.
White had 10 kills with a 33 percent rating. Kelsey Handel had eight kills for the Scots, while Abrianna Jones added a total of five kills.
Hall had a total of 16 assists for Maryville, as she added 14 digs. Mallory Bonee had 16 digs, as Lauren Bonee added nine assists for Maryville.
Berry was led by nine kills from Emily Stromberg and Katie O'Rourke, while Lauren Schmitz added 20 assists for the Vikings.
Maryville falls to 8-7 on the young season. The Scots will travel to Emory on Friday night for a 7 p.m. non-conference match before taking their 1-0 USA South record on the road to Lookout Mountain, Ga. for USA South contests against LaGrange (noon) and Huntingdon (2 p.m.).
