Box Score The Maryville College volleyball squad fell in their final home match of the season, as the Piedmont College Lions escaped with a 3-0 victory.
Maryville held each set close, but late rallies would send the Lions to the victory, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23.
The Scots saw Rachel Kozemko near a double-double effort with nine kills at 15 digs, while Madison Coker added eight kills.
Taylor Youell tallied 19 assists to lead Maryville, while Clara Adams added 13 of her own. The duo combined for 32 of the Scots' 35 assists on the evening.
Kozemko's 15 kills led the way, as Kaitlyn Flickinger and Stephanie Gleason each tallied seven digs for the Scots. Kori Jacot had a pari of blocks to match Julia Vineyard, while Jacot added six kills.
Piedmont saw Taylor Cramsey lead the way with 11 kills and nine digs on the afternoon. Emily Peters tallied 27 of the Lions' 30 assists, while adding nine digs of her own.
Haley Hixon led Piedmont with 14 digs.
The Lions hit at a .182 clip, while the Scots posted a .127 afternoon.
Maryville falls to 14-10 on the regular season. They hold a 10-4 record in USA South Athletic Conference action, which is good enough for second place currently in the Southern Division.
Piedmont goes to 16-14, 9-7, as they rank third within the USA South's Southern Divison.
The Scots will look to face their final two regular season foes on Saturday, Oct. 31, as they travel to Raleigh, N.C.
Maryville will face off with Methodist at noon, before facing the host and top-ranked Northern Division squad, Meredith College, at 4 p.m.
