Box Score 2 The Maryville College volleyball team earned their fifth consecutive victory of the season after defeating USA South foes Huntingdon College and LaGrange College in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots swept the host Hawks 3-0 by the scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-23 to claim the first match of the day. Maryville connected at a .275 success rate during the match while holding Huntingdon to a .096 hitting percentage at the net. Madison Coker threw down a game-high 10 kills with Rachel Kozemko added 7 kills. Taylor Youell and Madison Smith directed the efficient offense with a combined 29 assists. Kaitlyn Flickinger paced the defense with a game-high 13 digs. Zozemko added 4 service aces and 9 digs for a complete performance during the road sweep.
Maryville advanced to 6-6 and 5-0 within the USA South after a thrilling 3-2 win over LaGrange to conclude the day. MC tamed the Panthers by the scores of 25-18, 15-25, 25-15, 24-26, and 15-7. The trio of Madison Coker, Rachel Kozemko, and Julia Vineyard combined for 34 kills while Mary Kate White added 9 and Kori Jacot connected for 7 kills respectively. Youell and Smith completed a combined 43 assists while Flickinger (21 digs) and Stephanie Gleason (22 digs) excelled defensively.
After the losses, Huntingdon falls to 6-12 on the season while LaGrange moves to 8-10. The pair of wins give Maryville College Head Coach Kandis Schram, in her 30th season guiding the Scots, her 699th career coaching victory.
Maryville (6-6, 5-0 USA South) will travel to Demorest, Georgia for a single USA South match against Piedmont College on Sunday.
