Box Score 2 Maryville College volleyball picked up two key USA South Athletic Conference victories on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C.
The Scots started the day with a 3-0 win over Methodist University, before the top-ranked Meredith College, 3-1.
With the day, Maryville finishes as runners up in the USA South Southern Division, as the seeding for the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament were released this afternoon.
Covenant College earned the regular season crown, after defeating the Northern Division's Averett University earlier this year. Covenant holds a 16-12 overall record, while posting a 13-3 mark in conference action. Averett finished the year with a 25-9 overall record and a 17-2 mark in conference action.
Maryville will travel to Covenant College next Friday, as the Georgian Scots earned the right to host the tournament. The Orange and Garnet will play Methodist University for a 1 p.m. first touch.
Maryville started the day with a 3-0 win over the Monarchs, by the scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-14.
Rachel Kozemko led the way, posting nine kills, five digs, four service aces and an assist, while Mary Kate White totaled eight kills and two blocks.
Kori Jacot and Julia Vineyard each tallied six kills in the match.
Taylor Youell led Maryville with 16 assists, while fellow freshman Clara Adams had 14 to go with 10 digs for a double-double.
Kaitlyn Flickinger followed Adams with nine digs, while Youell added five, as the Scots hit a .270 clip in the match.
Methodist saw Cassidy Hayes finish the game with 10 kills, while Ashley Beardsley tallied eight.
The Monarch's Maggie Harris had 24 of Methodist's 25 assists, while Karly Klimas had 13 digs to lead the squad.
In the second match of the day, the Scots took a huge win over the USA South's top-ranked squad, Meredith, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
Maryville's Yasmeen Chan tallied a career-high 21 digs to lead Maryville defensively, whole Sophia del Campo added 11 digs and seven kills.
The Scots saw Nia Haller tally nine kills, while Madison Coker and Vineyard added eight each.
Adams totaled a career-high 21 assists to lead Maryville in the win, while Youell added 15.
For Meredith, it was Karlie Long with 13 kills and Emily Hendricks with 10. Hannah Blaylock added 27 assists, while Emery McGee had 11 digs.
The wins moves Maryville to 16-10 on the regular season, while holding a 12-4 record in conference action.
The Scots will look next to the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.
