The Maryville College Scots had a hard-fought loss on Tuesday night, as Covenant took the Battle of the Scots, 3-0.
The match was a game of runs, as Covenant took control on five runs of 5-0 or better. The Georgian Scots had two runs of 8-0 in the win, 25-18, 25-22, 25-13.
Maryville (13-14, 7-5 USAS) saw Abrianna Jones lead the Scots in her third-straight match. Jones had seven kills to go with four blocks – three of them solo – and three digs in the match. Freshman Brianne Sidner equaled Jones' kills with seven, as she had two service aces and a pair of digs.
Setter Saidee McDaniel was third in kills with four, as Julia Vineyard had three.
McDaniel had a double-double 16 assists and 11 digs to go with a block.
Kaitlyn Flickinger led four Scots into double-digit digs, as she recorded 15. Nia Haller had 15 digs, while Yasmeen Chan matched McDaniel's 11-dig effort.
MC couldn't overcome 30 errors in the match.
Covenant (15-11, 10-2) saw Ginny Moore finish with a double-double of 14 digs and 13 kills. Hannah Harris added eight kills.
Schuyler Moore tallied 32 assists to go with eight digs and five kills. Hannah Stewart led the Covenant Scots with 18 digs, as Jessica Seehorn had 13 digs and seven kills.
Maryville will travel to Huntingdon College on Friday, Oct. 21. The USA South contest is set for 6 p.m.
