Box Score 2 The Maryville College Scots earned a pair of road victories on Saturday in Macon, Ga.
The Scots swept USA South foe Wesleyan College (Ga.), 3-0, before taking down John Wesley College, 3-1.
Maryville opened the day with a huge sweep of Wesleyan (0-15, 0-10 USA South), by the score of 25-8, 25-12, 25-7.
The Scots were led by Freshman Madison Wilkerson, as she tallied 12 kills against the Wolves. Wilkerson held a .857 hitting percentage. She had five digs, two assists and two service aces in her thrilling performance.
Maryville hit .574 for the match, as they saw Kori Jacot and Kelley Wandell finish the afternoon with seven kills each. Madison Smith led Maryville with 14 assists, while TaWandell finish the afternoon with seven kills each. Madison Smith led Maryville with 14 assists, while Taylor Youell had 13.
Defensively, Maryville saw Youell and Mackenzie Marcrum lead the way with seven digs each.
Maryville deposited 15 service aces against the Wolves, while Nia Haller had seven. Taylor Youell added five, Wilkerson two and Marcrum one.
For Wesleyan, it was Malae Fiasue who had six kills. Hannah Straut had 15 assists, while Sarah Carter tallied six digs to lead Wesleyan.
In Maryville's second match of the day, the Scots downed the Lions, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-15.
Haller came up big, nearly finishing a triple-double in the match. Haller had 14 digs, 13 kills and seven blocks in the match, while accounting for two service aces. She hit .522 on the match.
Wilkerson again led the Scots in kills, as she matched Haller's 13-kill effort. Julia Vineyard had 10 kills for Maryville.
Saidee McDaniel led the Scots with 25 assists, while Youell had 14. Kaitlyn Flickinger had 17 digs, just above Haller's 14.
Maryville had a total of 22 block assists in the match. Haller's seven was followed by four from Jacot. Vineyard and Brianne Sidner each had three, as Dejane Hester-Taylor had two.
For John Wesley, it was Oliva Bullard's nine-kill effort that led the way. Chelsea Edwards had 24 assists, while Daylin Schweizer (11) and Cameron Dubuc (10) led the Lions defense.
Maryville (13-10, 7-3 USA South) will return to action tomorrow, as they travel to Demorest, Ga. The Scots will face USA South foe Piedmont with a 1 p.m. touch.
