Box Score WILMORE, Ky. – The Maryville Scots fell to host Asbury in five sets on Saturday in the final round of the CCS tournament.
The Orange and Garnet racked up 56 kills in the match, led by offensive powerhouse Kylie Wilhelmi (21). Defensively, the Scots totaled 64 digs, anchored by Wilhelmi (18) and Dakota Vaiese (8). Both Wilhelmi and Vaiese earned spots on the CCS All-Tournament Team.
Middle blocker Audry Neil paced the Scots at the net with four blocks and added five kills. Meanwhile, the duo of Megan Fairburn and Vaiese combined for 47 assists.
Set one was a see-saw affair that the Scots ultimately claimed 25-19. Asbury bounced back to take the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-17. Maryville then pulled out some of its own momentum to force a fifth set after taking the fourth 25-22. In the final stanza, Asbury eked out a tightly contested 15-12 win.
The 2025 season marks Maryville's final year in the CCS. The Scots finished with a 13-3 conference record, good for second in the standings, and ends its time in the CCS at 50-14. Maryville reached the CCS Tournament Semifinals three times in its four seasons in the league, which was established in 2022, advancing to the finals twice in 2023 and 2025. Next year, the Scots will transition to the Southern Athletic Association.
