The Maryville College Scots struggled on Saturday during the Emory Invitational, as the Scots fell to both Wellesley College and Emory University.
The Scots dropped their first match of the day, 3-2, to Wellesley, before falling to the tournament's host, Emory, 3-0.
In the day's first match, Maryville fell 28-26, 21-25, 17-25, 25-18, 12-15.
Maryville saw Julia Vineyard deposit 15 kills, while freshman Brianne Sidner recorded 13 kills. Abrianna Jones had eight, as Nia Haller posted seven kills to go with 14 digs.
Kaitlyn Flickinger led the defense with 19 digs, while Saidee McDaniel had 39 assists to go with eight digs.
The Scots recorded an incredible 12 service aces in the five-set match, as Haller had three. McDaien, Sidner and Allison Botts each added two for the Scots on the afternoon.
For the Blue Pride, it was all Yasmine Reece, who put down 24 kills with a .477 percentage. Michelle Li had 31 assists, while three players recorded triple-digit digs. Meghan Shoop led Wellesley with 14 digs.
In the Scots' second match of the day, Emory University took the win, 3-0. The Eagles outpaced the Scots, 25-12, 25-12, 25-14.
Maryville produced 22 kills, while Vineyard led the way with eight. Jones added six, while Sidner had four.
McDaniel had 18 assists, while Botts tallied 11 digs. Flickinger had nine digs.
For the Eagles, it was Jessica Holler (11) and Karissa Dzurik (10) that led the team with double-digit kills. Sarah Porter had 23 assists, while Andie McKinnon had 13 digs. Mira Grinsfelder had 11 digs, while Emory tallied eight blocks as a squad. The Eagles hit .341 for the contest against the Scots.
With Saturday's losses, the Scots fall to 4-7 on the season.
Maryville will have two days off before traveling to Emory & Henry College on Tuesday, Sept. 20 (6:30 p.m.). Maryville will host a pair of USA South quad matches on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday 24, beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday.
