Scots fall to William Peace 3-1 behind Mathews' 20 kills

The Maryville College volleyball squad fell to William Peace University by the score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, North Carolina to conclude their action in the Guilford College Invitational.

The Scots claimed the first set 25-22, but the Pacers stormed back to claim the final trio of sets 25-17, 25-18, 25-16.

MC's Maggie Mathews attacked the net 41 times throwing down a team-high 20 kills. Brianne Sidner complete a double-double effort with 12 kills while returning a team-high 14 defensive digs. Natalie Watts was consistent on defense with 13 digs while Meredith Bonee added eight kills, 19 assists, and 13 digs. Saidee McDaniel directed the offense with a team-high 24 assists.

Maryville (5-5) will return to action next Tuesday, September 17 when they host Johnson University in the Cooper Athletic Center on the MC campus. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Randy Lambert Court.
