Box Score Maryville College moved to 2-0, as the Scots tallied 23 runs in the first double-header of the 2020 season.
The Scots won their second game of the day, taking down Webster University, 10-0. MC boasted 11 total hits, as freshman hurler Hannah Bruce earned her first collegiate shutout in a one-hit performance.
Bruce went a complete 5.0 innings, allowing just one hit – a trickler in front of the plate. She gave up just two walks while striking out a trio of Gorlocks on the afternoon.
Taylor Campbell added three RBI on a 1-for-3 effort, while Hayden completed the day with her second 2-for-2 outing.
Maryville College had a huge first inning, tallying eight runs out of the gate. Christina White and Jazmine Geary had singles, as a Courtney Deck walk helped to load the bases. Campbell doubled to left-center, clearing the bases with the three-RBI shot. MC juiced the bags again with a pair of walks, before K Richardson tallied her first Maryville College RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Amaya Goodloe found a two-RBI single to left, before scoring on a wild pitch. Deck would add an RBI with a single to short, plating Hayden for an 8-0 MC run after one.
Geary would add an RBI in the third inning, scoring Goodloe from second, before Hayden's infield RBI single scored Kylie Canova in the bottom of the fourth for the 10-0 final.
Maryville (2-0) posted 23 hits and 23 runs in just 10 innings of work on Saturday.
The Scots were led in the second game by Campbell who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Hayden was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run, as Geary was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
Goodloe was 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, while White went 2-for-4 with a run. Deck was 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI, as Reid Ballard was 1-for-1 with a run. Allison Botts also went 1-for-1, as Canova and Morgan Brewer scored a run each.
For Webster University (0-2), Anna Muecke had the only hit, as Taylor Jackson added a pair of walks.
Maryville will look to continue their offensive outburst tomorrow, as the Scots conclude the Maryville College Invitational. MC takes on Webster University at noon, before facing Centre College at 2:00 p.m. The Gorlocks and the Colonels will play at 10:00 a.m.
