Box Score The Maryville College volleyball squad advanced to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in USA South action with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Berea College on Tuesday evening. The Scots defeated the Mountaineers 25-18, 25-21, 19-25, and 25-22.
Meredith Bonee directed an efficient offense that secured a 42-38 advantage with 38 assists. Isabella Samson was Bonee's favorite target throwing down a team-high 11 kills. Samson secured a double-double with 15 additional defensive digs. Maggie Mathews and Brooklyn Wallet added nine and eight kills respectively.
Natalie Watts paced the defense with a team-high 22 digs with Rhianna Tyldesley and Maggie Mathews posting 19 and 17 digs each.
Berea (0-2, 0-1 USA South) was paced by Deanna DeLa Torre's 15 kills while Fabiana De'Jesus recorded a match-high 27 digs.
The Scots will prepare for a three-match road trip. MC will go to Agnes Scott College on Saturday, March 13 before traveling to Covenant College Wednesday, March 17 for a pair of challenges.
