Scots Conclude Volleyball Weekend

Maryville Drops Pair of Matches

ATLANTA – Maryville closed out play at the Stormy Petrel Classic with a pair of Saturday defeats.

The Scots fell 3-0 to host Oglethorpe and then 3-0 to Millsaps to drop to 1-5 in their six road games thus far this season. Maryville's first home game is Sept. 22 vs. Covenant.

In the opener, Oglethorpe won 25-21, 25-17 and 25-16 as part of a trio of three-set sweeps for the Stormy Petrels in their home tournament. Maryville got three kills and two block assists from Brooklyn Wallet, while Natalie Watts added 16 digs and Meredith Bonnee 18 assists. Isabella Samson and Landry Frisch contributed five kills apiece.

Oglethorpe improved to 5-2 on the young season.

In the second match, Millsaps prevailed by scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-20 to also complete a 3-0 weekend and also improve to 5-2 for the season. Maryville's Wallet posted four kills and two more block assists, while Watts made 11 digs. Samson pitched in eight kills, six digs and two block assists.

The Scots are back in action next weekend in Brevard, North Carolina. Maryville takes on Meredith and Greensboro on Friday, and William Peace and Pfeiffer on Saturday.
