Scots Take Care of Business in Georgia
DECATUR, Ga. – Maryville turned an early morning bus ride into two important victories as the Scots swept past Agnes Scott and Wesleyan.
Maryville made its way past Agnes Scott 25-19, 25-19, 25-13, and then the Scots took care of Wesleyan 25-12, 25-14, 25-16.
The 3-0 victories pushed Maryville's record in USA South Conference play to 3-0. The Scots have won six of their last seven matches overall to climb back to the .500 mark at 7-7. Thirteen of those 14 matches have taken place away from home.
"It was a good day," Maryville head coach Kandis Schram said. "Our serving was much better and we saw some good things out of Hannah Kammer. She was not bad for her first real games."
First-years Kammer and Landry Frisch led the Scots with 17 kills apiece over the two matches. Kenzie Brewster added a combined 11. On the defensive side, Natalie Watts was steady once again with 11 digs against Agnes Scott, and then Abby Payne contributed 13 digs in the nightcap against Wesleyan.
The Scots are back in action Tuesday night at Berea in a matchup of undefeated USA South teams. Berea is 2-0 in conference and 8-7 overall after sweeping Saturday matches at Brevard against Huntington (3-2) and Brevard (3-0).
"Another key match for sure," Schram said. "Just call us the road warriors."
Game time is 7 p.m.
