MACON, Ga. – Well, the Maryville Volleyball streak is over.
No, not the losing streak. Maryville swept Saturday matches against host Wesleyan by a 3-0 count and Huntingdon with a 3-2 comeback, which was necessary after the Scots dropped a set (and then another) for the first time since Oct. 5.
"I am proud of how hard the team is playing," Maryville head coach
Kandis Schram said. "They are playing with fire and determination. Pure grit.
"The Huntingdon match was full of point swings and long rallies. They had us down two sets and our team played with one goal in mind – do to them what they did to us earlier in the year. It was a whole team effort."
Schram praised
Hannah Kammer, Ashley Holbelink and Cailin Masquepasqua for their roles in Saturday's sweep.
Maryville's winning streak is up to nine as the Scots climb to 18-8 overall and 10-3 in the CCS. The Scots are 5-0 thus far in the second portion of the conference schedule, having pulled into a second-place tie in the loss column with Berea and Huntingdon.
First-place Covenant (12-1) hosts Maryville on Tuesday night at 7 o'clock.
Stats from Saturday are not yet available.
