ATLANTA – Maryville traveled to Atlanta to face No. 5 Emory, playing well but ultimately falling to the undefeated Eagles 3-0.
The Scots dropped the three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-14. On offense, they were led by
Reese Bailey with six kills.
Cailin Mastropasqua was five kills of her own.
Ashley Hilbelink led with seven digs while
Dakota Vaiese recorded a team-high 10 assists.
Maryville's best effort of the day came in the second frame. MC jumped out to an early 8-4 lead over the Eagles and led by as many as five points at 14-9 before Emory went on a 9-1 run to take the lead 17-15. From there the Eagles outscored the Scots 8-4 and secured the set 25-19.
MC picked up six service aces to Emory's five in tonight's match.
Addie Smith led the way with four aces.
Maryville is back in action Saturday facing off against Agnes Scott and LaGrange in a CCS tri-match hosted by the Scotties in Decatur, Georgia. The first match is scheduled for a noon start time.
