Maryville Drops CCS Matchup at Huntingdon

Hubbell Records Three Hits in the 10-5 Loss

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Maryville's conference struggles continued Friday night, dropping a CCS matchup against Huntingdon 10-5 on the road.

The Scots picked up 10 hits in the contest. This marks the first time this season that MC (14-6) has recorded a loss while picking up double-digit hit totals.

Of Maryville's 10 base knocks, a team-high three came off the bat of designated hitter Will Hubbell. The senior went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. He has now hit safely in four-straight games and is batting .474 on the season (9-for-19).

Gabriel Lopez, Christian Carlton, and Hunter Thaxton joined Hubbell as the other Scots with multiple hits in the contest, each picking up two apiece.

The Scots fell behind early, allowing three runs in the first inning. MC would get one run back in the top of the third as Hubbell came around to score a run on an RBI single to center field from Thaxton.

Huntingdon would score again in the fourth, but Maryville countered with two of their own in the fifth inning to make it a 4-3 ball game heading into the sixth inning.

Maryville would score runs in the seventh and ninth inning but Huntingdon's offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring six runs in their final three trips to the plate to overpower the Scots and bring the score to its 10-5 conclusion.

Maryville returns to action against Huntigdon on Saturday, looking to pick up its first conference victory of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central.
