2023 Season Preview: Volleyball

MARYVILLE – Maryville Volleyball kicks off its 2023 season Friday at home where it hosts the Maryville College Labor Day Classic.

The Scots will play five games in three days at home for the second season in a row. In 2022 MC went 4-1 at the Labor Day Classic.

Maryville enters this season after losing five seniors who were key components of the 2022 squad. They will turn to the returning players and some promising newcomers to make up the production lost from last season.

Sophomore Ally Sokolow is one of the key returners for the Scots who they will look to as a leader for this young team. She played in a team-high 107 sets last season while leading the team in digs (357) and finishing second in assists (181) and service aces (52).

Landry Frisch and Reese Bailey are also key returners for the MC squad this season. Frisch was third on the team with 79 kills, while Bailey was fifth with 111.

The Scots will also turn to their newcomers to produce and help them win this season. Yanaira Camacho, Zoe Carithers, Caitlyn O'Shield, Ella Reyes, Addie Smith, and junior transfer Kiersten Maynard all look to contribute on this year's team.
