SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maryville closed out Day 2 of the Sewanee Invitational with a 3-0 sweep against Saint Joseph's (Me.).
Maryville won by scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-23, improving to 2-4 after the first six games of the year.
Set 2 was the highlight of the day for the Scots, as they compiled 17 total kills. The set featured back and forth action with 10 ties and five lead changes.
Bailey Shines
Reese Bailey led the way against the Monks with eight kills, two aces, and five blocks. Bailey's two aces came late in the third set with the Scots tied 21-21. The Scots then took command, closing out the match with a 25-23 win.
Brooke Oliver and
Landry Frisch matched Bailey in kills for the set with eight.
Cailin Mastropasqua led the team in attack percentage, posting a .362 clip while also topping the squad with 11 digs.
The Scots return to the court next Saturday for a doubleheader at the Warren Wilson Invitational, facing Warren Wilson at Noon before wrapping up against Pfeiffer at 2 p.m.
