The Scots led for 33 minutes and only trailed for 5 on the night. While Maryville led for that long, it was never by much. The Blazers kept it close throughout the night, tying the game eight times and causing seven lead changes. But the Scots didn't fret when faced with adversity, even when facing an exhausting overtime period.
The difference in the game came on turnovers, with Maryville forcing 22 on 15 steals. Maryville improves to .500 in CCS play, which is good for fourth place (tied with Belhaven). Covenant comes into the game standing at 9-7 overall, 5-3 in CCS play riding a two game winning streak. Their most recent game was Saturday night against Agnes Scott, an 83-45 victory for the Scots. Maryville has won five in a row versus Covenant, dating back to Feb, 2022. Covenant's lone win against Maryville came in an overtime decision in 2021 when Maryville lost 67-61.
