MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College has named Mimi Li the next head coach of Scots Women's Tennis, the College announced Friday. Li becomes the first full-time head coach in program history.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Coach Mimi Li to the Maryville College family as our new Women's Tennis Coach. Her appointment marks an important milestone as our first full-time coach dedicated to Women's Tennis," said Maryville Director of Athletics Dr.
Andrew Wu.
Most recently, Li served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis programs at NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University. In this role, she assisted with daily operations, match preparation and scouting, performance analysis, team travel, compliance, and the academic and athletic development of student-athletes. During her time at Lincoln Memorial, the men's program reached as high as No. 17 nationally, while the women's program climbed to No. 35.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the women's tennis program at Maryville College," said Li. "Having experienced college tennis as a student-athlete myself, I understand how meaningful these years can be, both on and off the court."
Prior to her time at Lincoln Memorial, Li served as a strength and conditioning intern at Western New Mexico University. In this role, she assisted with the creation and implementation of conditioning programs, provided nutrition and recovery guidance, and developed sport-specific workouts focused on improving strength, endurance, and injury prevention.
Wu continued, "Coach Li is excited to take the reins and accelerate the growth of the program and her background in tennis, psychology, and strength and conditioning will provide our students with an experience focused on their development."
Li earned her Associate of Science from Collin College in 2022 before completing her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Western New Mexico University in 2024. She recently earned her Master of Science in Psychology from Lincoln Memorial University in 2026.
Li continued, "I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, creating a positive and competitive team culture, and helping each player grow throughout their college experience. I am excited to become part of the Maryville community and see what we can accomplish together."
