Game One
LaGrange, Ga. – Maryville volleyball extends their win streak in a match against the LaGrange Panthers. This win extends Maryville's record to 15-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference. This loss drops LaGrange to 6-15 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Ruby Walton kicked off the match with a kill, but LaGrange was able to quickly respond with two kills of their own. Neither team would allow the other to pull ahead, but Maryville's
Kylie Wilhelmi,
Audry Neil, and Walton prevented the Panthers from pulling ahead. After a three-point deficit, Maryville went on a short run to regain the lead, featuring kills from Wilhelmi and Neil, as well as two service aces from
Dakota Vaiese. After a LaGrange attack error, Maryville took set one, 26-24.
Set two was initiated by LaGrange, but their successful attack was followed by an error. Maryville retaliated with 11-1 scoring run, with kills from Walton and Wilhelmi, and a service ace from
Cailin Mastropasqua. LaGrange attempted to claw back, but a service ace from Vaiese ended set two, 25-17.
Maryville fell behind early in set three, after multiple Scot errors. Despite a valiant effort, Maryville was not able to tie up the set, falling to the Panthers in set three, 25-22.
In typical Maryville fashion, the Scots dominated in set three, going on multiple runs thanks to Wilhelmi, Mastropasqua, and
Katelyn Eldred. LaGrange fought back hard, but a final kill form Wilhelmi and a LaGrange service error ended the set in favor of the Scots, 25-21.
Game Two
LaGrange, Ga. – Maryville wrapped up a dominant weekend in Georgie with a 3-0 victory over the Agnes Scott Scotties. This victory increased Maryville's record to 16-5 overall and 7-1 in the conference. This match dropped Agnes Scott to 0-10 overall and 0-7 in the conference.
Maryville started set one with three kills from
Ava George Wilber,
Audry Neil, and
Kyrah Bowles, as well as a service ace from
Kylie Wilhelmi. The Scotties responded with a few points of their own, but Maryville went on another run of 9-2, featuring kills from
Ruby Walton,
Izzy Freeman, Bowles, and Wilhelmi, upping Maryville's lead to 14-6. Agnes Scott added a few points to their cause, but a Scottie service error and attack error ended set one in favor of the Scots, 25-13.
Maryville started set two with a kill, but Agnes Scott did not back down easy, staying closely behind Maryville, 7-6. Maryville then went on a 16-2 run, highlighting the dominance of Maryville's Bowles, Wilhelmi, Walton, Neil, George Wilber, and
Yanaira Camacho. A Maryville service error disrupted their scoring run, but a kill from Wilhelmi and a service ace from
Maddie Bouvier wrapped up set two, 25-9.
Maryville started set three off with multiple kills and three service aces from
Hannah Scully to take the lead, 7-1. Maryville slowly inched ahead and towards the end of the set, the Scots went on a six-point run. Kills from Wilhelmi and Neil, as well as two service aces from
Dakota Vaiese ended set three, 25-11.
The Scots are back in action against Covenant on Wednesday, October 15
