MARYVILLE, Tenn. – November 1, 2025 — The Maryville College Scots continued their winning ways on Saturday afternoon, taking down Rhodes College 42–22 in front of 4,112 fans at Lloyd L. Thornton Stadium and Honaker Field.
Behind another standout performance from quarterback Bryson Rollins, the Scots (7–1, 4–1 SAA) built an early lead and controlled the tempo throughout. Rollins completed 24-of-31 passes for 301 yards and five touchdowns, connecting with five different receivers in a balanced offensive effort.
Maryville opened the scoring midway through the first quarter as Rollins found Zae Richardson for a 28-yard touchdown. Just over two minutes later, Jermaine Abner hauled in a 14-yard strike to double the lead. Rollins added a third touchdown early in the second quarter with a 7-yard pass to Steph Carter Jr., and after a Chris Cooper 16-yard touchdown run, the Scots carried a 28–15 advantage into halftime.
The offensive fireworks continued after the break, with Jalen McCullough scoring from 26 yards out in the third quarter and Jaden Marlin closing the day's scoring on an 11-yard grab late in the fourth. McCullough led all receivers with six catches for 113 yards, while Richardson added 46 yards and a touchdown.
Maryville finished with 419 total yards — 301 through the air and 118 on the ground — averaging 7.4 yards per play. The Scots were perfect in the red zone (4-for-4) and converted 7-of-11 third-down opportunities.
Defensively, Seth Carter paced the unit with 14 tackles, while Grant Henderson and Jacquese Abner each recorded seven stops. Abner also snagged a first-quarter interception to help set up one of Maryville's early scores.
Rhodes (1–7, 0–5 SAA) was led by quarterback Taylor Haas, who threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns, and receiver Sani Bartlett, who had 63 yards and a score.
Maryville improves to 7–1 overall and 4–1 in SAA play heading into next week's road matchup at first-place Berry. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, November 8, in Mount Berry, Georgia.
