Riding their longest win streak of the year at four games, Head Coach Darrin Travillian takes his team back down to Georgia for their third game in the state in the past week.
The Scots defeated Wesleyan and Agnes Scott to improve to 7-11 overall and 6-3 in conference play, good for sole third in CCS standings. Maryville set the tone early in their thumping of Agnes Scot on Saturday. While the Scots let the Scotties score the first bucket of the game, going down 3-0, MC then went on a 17-0 run and start the game up 21-5 through the first 6:44 of the contest on their way to an 80-53 victory. Maryville matched its season-high mark for threes knocked down with six and had its second-highest field goal percentage, at 52.6%. Emily Allen led the charge on deep shooting, going a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc. Braxton Fritz knocked down two threes on 60% shooting overall. Junior Forward Olivia Cathers scored 14 points on 7-10 shooting in the game, which is the second-highest total of her career (15 is her high mark, also against Agnes Scott). Sophomore Ella Tharpe had 13 for the Scots, marking her sixth game in a row with double-digit points. Over that stretch the Scots are 5-1 and she is averaging 13.8 ppg.

Piedmont sits atop the conference standings at 13-7 (9-2). However, their two conference loses have come in two of their last three games (at Asbury and at Belhaven). The Lions defeated Maryville in their match up earlier this season 73-57.

Maryville made a run at the school record for 3-pointers in a game here Tuesday night but came up one shy. They settled for a convincing 105-82 victory over Covenant in Collegiate Conference of the South action.
The Scots made 16 3-pointers, finishing one off the school mark of 17 set against Johnson way back in November 1988. That record has been tied three times: In February 1989 against Warren Wilson; February 2013 against Averett; and December 2022 against Greensboro.
Covenant outscored Maryville 54-47 over the final 20 minutes, but the visitors never drew closer than 22 points – and that was inside the final minute. Maryville scored its second-most points against Covenant in 42 all-time meetings, topped only by the 109-53 triumph in January 2010.

Reed Kemp's scoring average is up to 24.0, which ranks fifth nationally. In six conference games thus far, he is averaging 26.2. In his second season with the Scots, Kemp is at 949 points in a Maryville uniform. Chase Morgan is next on the active list with 896 points, and Morgan already ranks seventh on the MC career chart with 69 blocked shots.

The Scots improved to 14-5 overall and 5-1 halfway through the conference slate before their trip to Piedmont to face the Lions. Piedmont sits at 9-11 (2-6) and are riding a 5-game losing streak heading into the game.
