Maryville had been shooting a lowly 20.6% from three for the season, which ranks last in the conference. Last night, the Scots shot 42.9% while Huntingdon shot a mere 3-17 (17.6%) from beyond the arc. It was the confidence boost that Maryville needed, getting back on track after their loss on Tuesday to conference leader Piedmont. The Scots led almost wire-to-wire in their 68-58 victory, leading for a total of 38:26 after taking the lead 5-4 with 8:26 remaining in the first quarter.
Sophomore
Ella Tharpe got back on track with her 18 points on 7-11 shooting, marking her seventh game out of the last eight scoring in double figures.
Ella Haney,
Emily Allen, and
Reagan Brown all scored double digit points as well, scoring 11, 10, and 10 respectively. Brown's 10 are a career high for the freshman.
Kadence Stoner was the leading rebounder, bringing down six on the night in addition to her six points.
Looking to today's game with LaGrange, Coach Travillian remembered the last meeting between the two teams:
"You know, when we played LaGrange the first time, we led for 39 minutes and some change and managed to lose. We've got that stuff at the end of the game that we need to clean up, especially the turnovers. That is what we have to do better on tomorrow to win the game. We can't have another 20 turnover game and expect to win, it really is the one thing that bothers us the most."
The Panthers come into the game having lost four of their last five after falling to Asbury last night 68-53. LaGrange is averaging 73.9 points per game while Maryville is averaging 60. The Panthers have taken five out of the last six against the Scots, including the meeting earlier this season in Georgia.

Maryville placed three 20-point scorers into the box score for the first time in the
Raul Placeres Era and the Scots hustled past Huntington 91-71 here Friday night.
Chase Morgan scored 26 points to go with game-highs of 10 rebounds and five assists, posting his fourth double-double of the season.
Reed Kemp and
Kyle Cloninger added 23 points apiece, with Cloninger scoring a season-high. The first-year finished 11-of-12 shooting from the floor.
Kemp should become the 37th men's player to reach 1,000 points in a Scots uniform Saturday afternoon against LaGrange. The Franklin senior is at 995 points in his two Maryville seasons after mustering his 18th game of 20 or more points in 2023-24, including the last 11 in a row.
Next for the Scots is Senior Day against LaGrange. The Panthers lost 81-73 at Asbury on Friday night and arrive at 6-16 overall and 1-8 in the league. Between the women's and men's games, the Maryville College Athletics Department is recognizing the four men's basketball seniors: Kemp,
Malachi Chipp,
Darius Martin and
Hayden Treadwell.
Senior Day for the men's team begins approximately 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
