Baseball Falls at Transylvania

Short-rested Scots Couldn't Keep Up With Pioneers

Lexington, Ky. - A tough match up for the Scots as they fell to Transylvania 11-1 in the midweek game.

Coming off of only one days rest after a long weekend in North Carolina, Maryville couldn't keep up with the Pioneers who had an additional day to prepare.

MC could only manage one run on one hit through eight inning of play, coming on Colin Dunworth's' first at bat of the game. Dunworth singled to right field after Reece Jordan was based on balls and Frank Derner was hit by a pitch. Dunworth's hit scored Jordan from third after he had stolen second and advanced to third on a fly out by AJ Finco

That ended the day's events for the Scots, as the Pioneers run-ruled Maryville after scoring eleven straight runs to end the game in the eighth inning.

After the first inning, Transylvania was up 4-1. The pioneers then managed to hit a two-run home run in the fourth and a three-run homer in the fifth to put the game out of reach at 10-1 after five. The final score of the game came on a bases-loaded walk, scoring the 11th run to put Transy up 10, thus enacting the run rule.

The Scots ended the game with two errors and six runners left on base. Kaden Wimsat was the losing pitcher in the game, tossing four innings and allowing six earned runs on nine hits.

Transylvania improves to 6-4 on the year while Maryville falls to 11-4.

The Scots look to rebound as they host CCS foe Belhaven for a three game series, one on Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled for 1 & 4 p.m.
