CLEVELAND, Ga. – Maryville rallied from a defeat in doubles to complete a 4-3 comeback victory over Truett McConnell on Friday.
It marks the third time the Scots have overcome a loss in doubles to pull out a victory, matching triumphs against Roanoke (4-3) and Northwestern-St. Paul (5-2).
Field Myatt and
Jackson Meyer bounced back from partnering on a 6-1 doubles defeat to win important three-set singles matches. Myatt at No. 3 singles won 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-1, while Meyer at No. 5 singles prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
"Some of the performances were drastically different in singles than doubles, but we will take it," Maryville head coach
Doug Corbett said. "A comeback from 3-1 down is a fantastic memory to look back on.
"That is the third time this season we have come back to win after losing doubles. There have been moments on some courts, but once we start clicking in doubles, that will make us a more dangerous and formidable team."
