Women's Basketball Celebrates Senior Night in Style

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – On a memorable Senior Night inside the Cooper Athletic Center, the Maryville College women's basketball team closed out its home regular season in style, defeating Asbury 73–60 on Tuesday evening.

The win not only honored seniors Ella Haney and Cassidy Andry, but also marked a historic milestone for the Scots, who have now secured their most regular-season victories since the 2019–20 season.

Maryville set the tone early, racing out to a 26–13 lead after the first quarter and never trailing. The Scots combined efficient shooting with aggressive defense, forcing turnovers and turning them into points to build separation throughout the night. Maryville shot 45.8 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers, while holding Asbury to just 40 percent shooting overall

Senior Ella Haney made her presence felt on both ends of the floor, finishing with seven points, three assists, and six steals while helping anchor the Scots' defensive effort. Fellow senior Cassidy Andry earned her first career start on Senior Night, adding a rebound and providing energy early before checking out to a standing ovation from the home crowd.

Maryville showcased its depth offensively, led by Emily Wilson, who paced the Scots with 12 points, while Kadence Stoner recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Scots' bench played a pivotal role, outscoring Asbury's reserves 39–8 and delivering timely contributions throughout the contest.

Asbury made several pushes, cutting the deficit to single digits at points in the second and third quarters, but Maryville answered each time with key baskets and defensive stops. A strong third quarter, where the Scots shot over 60 percent from the floor, helped reestablish control heading into the final frame.

The victory caps the final home regular season game for Maryville and sends the Scots into their final regular season contest at Piedmont, with a chance to potentially earn a Bye in the CCS Tournament.

Senior day festivities took place after the game, with Ella and Cassidy both receiving standing ovations from the home crowd.
