MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College claimed an 8–5 victory over Huntingdon at Scotland Yard on Friday. The decisive moment came during a five-run fourth inning, fueled by disciplined plate appearances and strategic sacrifices. The Scots turned the tide in the fourth inning, ignited by

Jay Pichardo followed suit, loading the bases. A wild pitch opened the scoring for Dunworth, and
Irvin Hernandez (senior, infielder) delivered a critical two-RBI single.
Masin Hall and

Hernandez shone brightly, not only with his two-RBI single but also by swiping a base later in the game. The Scots capitalized early with a wild pitch that allowed Hall to score, followed by Dunworth's sacrifice fly to bring Evans home, showcasing clutch situational hitting.
Despite a ninth-inning threat from Huntingdon, as Brodie Holcomb's double drove in a run, the Scots' defense held strong. The pitching staff combined for a resilient performance, solidifying the win with timely plays and composure.
Kyle Timko (senior, pitcher) anchored the mound for seven innings, conceding four earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three and walking four. His 92-pitch effort included 56 strikes, contributing a solid 1.71 WHIP.
Pete Pappas provided relief through two innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and striking out two.
Offensively, Hall recorded two hits, two runs, and an RBI, instrumental in the Scots' success. Evans added two hits, a run, and an RBI, proving his worth at the plate.
Det Dettwiller chipped in with a crucial double and an RBI, and Hernandez's all-around performance boosted the team's output.
Maryville looks to continue their momentum as they host Huntingdon again on Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader at Scotland Yard, which will also be Senior Day. Festivities will take place before game one.
