RALEIGH, N.C. – The Maryville Scots (4-0, 0-0) continued their strong start to the season with a three-set sweep over Meredith (7-1, 0-0) Friday evening at Weatherspoon Gymnasium, taking the match 25-17, 25-23 and 25-18.

Maryville's Ruby Walton led the Scots with 15 kills while hitting an impressive .700, followed by Jasmine Gross and Charli Grubbs, who each recorded seven kills. Dakota Vaiese directed the offense with 31 assists, while Kyrah Bowles led the defensive effort with 16 digs. As a team, Maryville recorded 40 kills, 37 assists, 39 digs and seven service aces.

Maryville had to battle back early in the opening set, falling behind 6-0 before a Meredith service error put the Scots on the board. Kills from Gross, Grubbs and Walton, along with two service aces from Bowles, helped Maryville go on a 9-1 run to reclaim the lead at 10-7. The teams continued to battle throughout the set until three consecutive Meredith attack errors, followed by a kill from Addison Appleby, extended the Scots' advantage to 19-14. After a Meredith kill and a Maryville service error, the Scots responded with a 5-1 run, highlighted by kills from Walton and Grubbs. Maddie Bouvier closed out the set with a service ace, giving Maryville the 25-17 victory.

The second set remained close throughout, with Maryville trailing by just one or two points for much of the frame. The Scots finally took the lead at 20-19 after a Meredith service error sparked a four-point run. Lexi Davis recorded a service ace during the run, tying the set at 20-20. After Meredith regained the lead, Walton took over offensively, recording two kills to help Maryville close out the set, 25-23.

Maryville took control early in the third set and never relinquished the lead. Capitalizing on Meredith attack errors, the Scots used kills from Walton and Gross to build a 9-5 advantage. The teams continued to trade points, with Maryville's offense receiving contributions from Davis, Grubbs, Gross and Aubrey Gibson. As Meredith attempted to close the gap, Gibson and Grubbs responded with a run of kills to put the set out of reach. Grubbs delivered the final kill of the match, sealing the 25-18 third-set victory and the 3-0 sweep.

The Scots return to action Saturday at 12:00 PM against former CCS foe LaGrange before wrapping up the Raleigh Classic with a 2:00 PM matchup against Johnson & Wales (N.C.).
