Women’s Soccer Defeated by Lynchburg

Shift Focus to MC Fall Classic

SALEM, Va. - It was a tough outing for the Maryville College Women's soccer team against the University of Lynchburg, as the Scots lost 0-4 and move to 1-1-1 on the season. 

After 37 minutes of scoreless play, Lynchburg broke onto the scoreboard at 37:21, and from there they didn't look back. Maryville was stuck on the back foot all match, making 11 saves compared to Lynchburg's single save. Lynchburg had 23 shots in the game with 14 of them being on goal, compared to the Scots only taking two, with the lone shot on goal being saved. 

After their first goal, Lynchburg had another less than a minute later, coming from far outside the box that no one would be able to save.

In the second half, a mix-up on a Lynchburg corner resulted in them getting a third goal, and the fourth one came on another attacking effort from the Hornets, putting an end to the day. 

The Scots will look to bounce back against Trine University on Saturday, September 12. The game will start at 2:30 p.m.
