LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Maryville Scots men's golf team closed out competition at the Transylvania "WildBat Invite" with a fifth-place finish, posting a three-round total of 894 (+42).
Maryville opened the tournament with a 297 before improving to a 294 in the second round. The Scots closed out the tournament with a 303 in the final round.
Sophomore Justin Sweeney led the way for the Scots, finishing fifth individually with a three-round score of 213 (E). Sweeney saved his best performance for the final round, firing a 69 (-2), the best round of his collegiate career. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Jack Porter followed Sweeney with a 225 (+12), while Joseph Gerczak carded a 226 (+13). Jack Jacobsen finished with a 231 (+18), and Will Beyer rounded out the Scots' lineup with a 240 (+27).
The Scots will continue their fall season Saturday and Sunday at the Stateline Shootout in Crosby Township, Ohio.
