Box Score The Scots from Maryville College used a first half goal and a pair in the second half to defeat the Scots of Covenant College 3-0 on Wednesday night in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Maryville found the back of the net in the 21st minute when Alexis Franco scored her second goal of the season. Franco's goal and a pair of saves by Freshman Mandy Marshall preserved the 1-0 lead for Maryville going into halftime.
The Lady Scots from Maryville would be back at it in the 55th minute when Sophomore Sierra Siegel scored her 11th goal of the season from fellow Sophomore Allyson Hale. Just thirteen minutes later, in the 68th minute Maryville would score the game's final goal when Senior Ashley Howarth scored from fifteen yards out with the assist going to Taylor Emerson.
Mandy Marshall would be stellar in goal, stopping both Covenant shots on goal to earn the shutout and bring her record to 3-2-1 on the year. Maryville dominated the Scots from Covenant, out shooting them 29-9 on the game.
"Covenant has a good team this year and it says some really good things about us to come in here and handle them the way we did tonight," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "Mandy played well in goal again tonight and our midfielders did an excellent job to give our forwards some good opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net."
The win brings Maryville to 6-2-1 on the year and 4-1 in USA South tilts. Maryville will be back in action on Saturday when they host the Hawks of Huntingdon College. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
