Box Score

After falling behind 1-0, Maryville used two goals in the final 12 minutes to take the victory over Huntingdon 2-1 in women's soccer action on the campus of Maryville College on Saturday afternoon.

Huntingdon would score the first and only goal of the first half with 9:12 remaining as Clara Tapplin beat keeper Megan Nugent. Maryville dominated Huntingdon in the first half, allowing only two shots to fifteen for the Scots.

The tide would turn as the late afternoon sun began to set. Maryville would get the equalizer with 11:17 remaining in the second half when Senior Ashley Howarth would chest in a beautiful cross from Sophomore Allyson Hale. Maryville would be back at it just three minutes later when Taylor Emerson would score with the help of Phoebe Leo. Maryville would ride out the remaining time to perserve the 2-1 victory.

"We once again didn't start well, and that is frustrating," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "However, we were able to get balls in the net when we needed to."

The win brings Maryville to 7-2-1 overall and 5-1 in USA South action. The Scots will be back in action on Friday when they host Meredith at 5:00 pm.
