Box Score The Maryville College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference home challenge against Bryan College by the score of 72-70 in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
The Lions (3-1) took a 37-31 lead to the half after connecting on 63% (7-for-11) of their three-pointers while going 56% from the floor. They also out rebounded the Scots 24-16 while MC only hit 27% of their shots.
Maryville (1-2) rallied for a 42% shooting effort in the second half and out scored Bryan 39-35. MC tied the game 70-70 with just over a minute left on the clock. Bryan's Jeff Long sank a pair of free-throws and Maryville's last possession fell short.
The Scots were led by Jaumonne Byrd's 17 points in the paint. Christian Ford hit three treys en route to a 15 point scoring effort. Spencer Shoffner added a dozen points from the perimeter. Joey Bodewig led MC on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Maryville will prepare for a Thanksgiving Classic in LaGrange, Georgia where they will challenge Emory and Oglethorpe in key non-conference regional action.
