Scots fall to Bryan College 76-73

The Bryan College Lions snapped Maryville College's three-game win steak with a 76-73 win in Dayton, Tennessee on Monday evening.

 

Bryan used a 28 point effort from Brandon Cole and a 24 point outing by Robert Troino to defeat the Scots for the second time this season. The Lions tamed MC 72-70 in the Boydson Baird gymnasium in Maryville's third challenge of the season.

 

The Scots (4-6) were led by sophomore post standout Jaumonee Byrd. Bryd connected on 12-of-20 shots inside the paint for a team-high 26 points while pacing MC on the boards with eight rebounds. Sophomore perimeter specialist Spencer Shoffner hit 7-of-16 shots including four treys to finish with 18 points. Oscar Butler shot 50% from the field en route to a 16-point performance.

 

Bryan led by four points at the half and a 64% shooting effort by the NAIA squad held off a late surge by the Scots.

 

Maryville will now open prepare to open their 2014 USA South schedule beginning on January 3. MC will host Averett Univesity on Friday, January 3rd at 7:30 before hosting Ferrum College on Saturday, January 4th at 4:00. Each game will be part of a USA South men's and women's double header, hosted in MC's Cooper Athletic Center.
