Box Score A four run inning and the inability to capitalize on the visitor's miscues sent the Maryville College baseball team toward an 8-5 loss at the hands of Emory University on Tuesday evening on MC's Scotland Yard.
Maryville took a 2-0 lead after an RBI single by Matt Jones plated Chris Hamilton. An errant throw sent Jones home and the Scots led after their first at-bat.
Emory answered with a five hit attack in the second inning off MC starter Keylon Holloway that sent home four Eagle runs.
The Eagles scored another earned run off Holloway in the fifth inning to expand their lead to 5-2.
Emory sent across a run in the seventh off reliever Tyler Hopkins and a pair of runs off reliever Robbie Britt in the eighth.
A Chris Hamilton fielder's choice scored Travis Scates and a wild pitch plated Jesse Crisp in the seventh before MC tallied their final run in the eighth when Zack Blonder scored on a two-out RBI single by Crisp.
Emory pounded out a dozen hits led by Brett Lake and Wes Peacock each recording three hits. Lake had a game-high three RBI's.
The Scots were paced offensively by Matt Jones who went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Chris Hamilton and Jesse Crisp each added a pair of hits to MC's eight hits attack.
Emory's Tyler Sprague moved to 2-0 on the season after scattering seven hits over seven innings of work. Matt McMahon picked up his first save of the season after two innings of one hit relief.
Maryville's Keylon Holloway fell to 0-2 on the season after giving up five earned runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Emory advances to 5-2 on the season while the Scots fall to 5-8.
