Box Score An afternoon road game turned into a twilight victory for the Maryville College Scots after 11 innings, 27 runs, 28 hits, and 13 errors produced a 15-12 win over Berry College in Rome, Georgia on Wednesday.
A game saving catch by MC centerfielder Garrett Gresham sent the game to extra innings before freshman Zack Blonder drove in Nick Dean with a game-winning double in the 11th inning. The Scots tacked on a pair of insurance unearned runs on Viking miscues and Cody Midgett and Nick Bowers came on to close out the victory on the mound for Maryville.
The Scots recorded 18 team hits. Leading the offensive surge was Blonder (4-for-7, 2R, 4 RBI) and Nick Dean (4-for-6, 4R). Andrew Mabini and Chris Hamilton each went 3-for-6 with secondbaseman Mabini driving in four runs. Bowers picked up the win in relief after shutting down Berry's bats with a pair of shutout innings.
Berry falls to 8-8 on the season while Maryville is riding a four game winning streak en route to a 9-9 overall mark. The Scots will host USA South rival North Carolina Wesleyan College on Saturday and Sunday for a three-game series.
