Box Score The Maryville College baseball team fell to Emory University by the score of 9-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Eagles posted three runs in the first inning off MC starter Matt Dyer (2-4). Following a sacrifice fly, Emory plated a pair of runs off RBI singles.
Maryville answered with a run in the third inning when Chris Hamilton drove home Garrett Gresham with an RBI double.
Emory extended their lead to 4-1 with a wild pitch.
MC closed the gap to 4-2 when Andrew Mabini pushed Gresham across the plate with an RBI single in the fifth.
The Eagles (19-14) answered with a run in the fifth, a pair of runs in the seventh, and two runs in their final at-bat.
The Scots (16-23) finished with an eight hit attack. Travis Scates paced the offense going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Dyer suffered the loss after scattering eight hits in five innings of work. He struck out four while relievers Ryan Roach and Nick Bowers surrendered three hits and four earned runs over three collective innings of work.
Maryville will conclude their 2013 schedule with a road trip to Tennessee Temple on Thursday, April 25th.
