Cougars Down Scots 4-0 in Women's Soccer Action.

Box Score

After falling behind 1-0 in the 14th minute, the Scots had no answer as they lost 4-0 to Averett on the road Saturday afternoon.

The lone goal of the first half would be scored in the 14th minute of the contest as Averett jumped out to a 1-0 lead that would stand through half time. Maryville was out 12-1 in the first half, despite having almost as many corner kick opportunities as Averett.
Averett would add three more goals in the second half to make the final 4-0.  The Scots had three corner kicks to three for Averett in the second half.
"There is a reason Averett was picked to win the league in the preseason," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We weren't good enough today and they played a lot better than us today. We have a lot of work to do."

Maryville falls to 3-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in USA South action. The Scots will host NC Wesleyan on Friday at 3:30 to kick off homecoming weekend.
