Box Score LaGrange College's Justin Yestrumsky limited Maryville College to only four hits over a complete game effort to help the Panther diamondmen defeat the Scots 11-2 on Sunday on MC's Scotland Yard.
LaGrange took the USA South series after collecting 16 hits off five Maryville hurlers. MC's 2-1 early lead was dissolved by a Panther five run third inning that featured four hits including a Chris Laye three-run opposite field homerun. LaGrange tallied a pair of runs in the sixth on four hits and rallied for three runs in the seventh, taking advantage of a pair of Scots' errors.
MC's offense was paced by Nick Dean who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jacob Ashe plated MC's only additional run with a sacrifice fly.
LaGrange's Testrumsky (2-4) earned the win in his best outing of the season. He allowed only two earned runs while striking out three. Jim Reed led the Panther attack going 4-for-5 while Alex Murfin and Kyle Nerbonne each finished with three hits.
Sean Holton (0-2) suffered the loss for Maryville after allowing four earned runs and five hits in a 2.1 inning start.
LaGrange advances to 7-14 on the season and 5-7 within the USA South. Maryville falls to 9-10 and 4-8 in league challenges.
The Scots will return to the field on Tuesday to host the Vikings of Berry College. First pitch is slated for 3:00 on MC's Scotland Yard.
