Box Score The Maryville College Women's Soccer team defeated Oglethorpe University on the campus of Maryville College by the final score of 4-1.
The Scots jumped out to a 1-0 early lead from a goal by Sierra Siegel assisted by Kirsten Alcorn in the 2nd minute of the contest. Maryville held the lead for the majority of the first half until Oglethorpe's Hannah Kuhn delivered a deep goal unassisted to tie the game 1-1 in the 34th minute. The score remained tied 1-1 at the half.
Maryville took over the second half scoring three unanswered goals, the first of which Kirsten Alcorn connected on from an assist by Kaitilyn Kennedy in the 59th minute putting the Scots ahead 2-1. The Scots would add to their lead on an unassited goal by Janelle Calhoun in the 83rd minute. Sierra Siegel then scored her second goal of the game on an assist from Monica Besbris putting the game out of reach in the 85th minute resulting in a final score of 4-1.
The Scots will be in action again in a home contest against Rhodes at 4:00pm on Saturday September 13th.
