Maryville College Defeats Averett University 4-2

The women's soccer team improves to 4-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Maryville recorded 29 total shots, 12 on goal to Averett's 7 total shots, 4 on goal in a conference victory Sunday afternoon.

Allyson Hale put the Scots on the board 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the 30^th minute of the contest.  The Scots would spark the offense in the second half recording a goal from Sierra Siegel assisted by Allyson Hale in the 56^th minute pulling ahead 2-0.  Jordyn Lee would find the back of the net unassisted in the 59^th minute.  The Scots would strike again on a goal from Sarah Wickman from deep; advantage Maryville 4-0. 

The Cougars of Averett University would make a late surge scoring on a goal from Pippa Burge in the 74^th minute.   Amanda Gustavsson would score the second goal for Averett in the 78^th minute cutting Maryville's lead 4-2, but their run was a little too late.

Next Maryville will be on the road Friday at N.C. Wesleyan at 4:00pm
